How to import car listings with Automotive Inventory Importer
Automotive Inventory Importer is a third-party solution that imports a car dealer's inventory from a flat XML or CSV feed into HivePress listings and keeps them synced automatically.
The plugin detects the listing attributes already configured on your site and maps the feed data to them, allowing a full inventory to be published without entering vehicles manually.
The free version supports manual field mapping. The Pro version adds a one-click preset that applies the HivePress mapping automatically.
To import car listings:
The corresponding listing attributes must be created beforehand. For selection-type attributes (e.g., Make, Model), make sure the attribute options match the values used in the feed.
- Download and install the plugin.
- Navigate to the plugin's dedicated settings section.
- On the Feed & Sync tab, paste your XML or CSV feed link (or click Browse Server to pick a file already uploaded to your site). Under Import Vehicles Into, choose hp_listing post type. Click Save Changes.
- On the Field Mapping tab, match each feed field to the right field, then save. Match the fields your chosen post type uses (e.g., hp_listing_your_attribute).
- Choose how often to check your feed so your website matches your lot, then click Save Changes.
- Click Sync Inventory Now to run your first import, then review your listings under the Listings tab.
Once configured, the feed will be synced automatically based on the sync period defined in the plugin settings.
